LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF DOLORES HUERTA

Today, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries issued the following statement upon the death of Dolores Huerta:

Dolores Huerta was a trailblazing leader, a courageous champion of civil and political rights and an American hero who spent her life fighting for worker dignity, economic justice and opportunity. She was a transformative force for good, co-founding the United Farm Workers and standing up for Latino laborers by leading strikes and demanding fair treatment, all while facing arrest and violence from forces trying to stop progress. 

House Democrats will move forward in our mission to make life better for the American people, inspired by Dolores Huerta’s conviction, courage and commitment to pushing our nation closer toward becoming a more perfect union. May she forever rest in power.
