LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON ATTEMPTED SHOOTING AT HINDU TEMPLE

Today, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement:

I am appalled by the attempted mass shooting targeting Indian Americans at a Hindu place of worship in Illinois. My thoughts are with the entire community reeling from this deeply troubling incident and with Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi and his family, who were present at the time.

The disturbing rise of targeted, vile and bigoted hate against our South Asian communities shocks the conscience. Every American should have the right to freely exercise their religion and to pray in peace. House Democrats will continue to confront violent white supremacy and xenophobia until hate has been eradicated in our society.
