LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON TRUMP ADMINISTRATION’S RECKLESS IRAN WAR FUNDING REQUEST

Today, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement:

After repeatedly promising to end foreign wars, Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth plunged America into Operation Epic Failure with no objective, strategy or support. Their reckless and costly war of choice in the Middle East has cost taxpayers billions, led to the deaths of 13 servicemembers, engulfed the entire region in conflict and skyrocketed the already high cost of living at home. Taxpayer dollars should be used to make life better and more affordable for the American people. Instead, the Trump administration is asking Congress for more than $70 billion in additional taxpayer money to pay for another endless war.
 
House and Senate Democrats have led passage of a War Powers Resolution to stand up for the American people and permanently end the conflict in the Middle East. The Trump administration cannot be trusted with another dime connected to the war. It’s time to put the American people first.
