LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION’S ILLEGAL RESCISSIONS SCHEME

Today, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement:

“Donald Trump has transmitted a brazenly unlawful scam to Congress aimed at stealing taxpayer money ahead of the upcoming government funding deadline. The Constitution gives Congress, not a wannabe King, the power of the purse.

Republicans are once again abandoning the bipartisan appropriations process to pursue an extreme agenda that undermines America’s national security. If there is a government shutdown, it will directly result from an out-of-control administration and compliant House Republicans who have spent this year focused on raising costs and ripping healthcare away from everyday Americans instead of making life better.”
