LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON REPUBLICAN BILL TO PROTECT TAX CHEATS

Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries issued the following statement following passage of House Republican legislation to make it easier for wealthy tax cheats to evade their responsibility:

“House Republicans claimed they were determined to fight inflation, but instead used their very first substantive bill to help the wealthy, well-off and well-connected avoid paying their fair share of taxes. The so-called party of fiscal responsibility explodes the deficit by more than $114 billion with its reckless legislative joy ride. House Democrats will continue to stand up for everyday Americans and push back against extreme MAGA Republican efforts to subsidize the lifestyles of the rich and shameless.”
