LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON THE OCTOBER JOBS REPORT

Washington, D.C.  — Today, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 150,000 in October:

The October Jobs Report showed that, under the leadership of President Biden, our economy continues to grow at a strong and steady pace. Unemployment has remained near historic lows and more than 14 million jobs have been created under the Biden-Harris administration. Democrats will continue our work to lower costs and build on this historic economic recovery. 

Unfortunately, extreme MAGA Republicans are working to undo this progress by playing political games, threatening a government shutdown and working to slash Social Security and Medicare. House Democrats are going to continue to stand up against this reckless extremism because everyday Americans deserve better.
