LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON THE JUNE JOBS REPORT

Brooklyn, NY — Today, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that nonfarm payroll employment increased by 209,000 in June:

The June jobs report is further proof that the Biden economic agenda is working and America’s economy is continuing to grow at a strong and steady pace. Inflation is down, wages are up and the unemployment rate has been below 4% for the longest stretch in over 50 years. House Democrats have been working with President Biden to expand the middle class and build on the over 13 million jobs that have been added under the Biden-Harris Administration. 

Extreme MAGA Republicans have made clear that they have a three-part economic agenda. One, they want to end Social Security and Medicare as we know it. Two, they want to give massive tax cuts to billionaires and wealthy corporations. Three, they want to implement dramatic spending cuts that will hurt the health, safety and economic well-being of the American people. It's a radical, reckless, extreme right-wing agenda that will only benefit the wealthy, well-off and well-connected. House Democrats will continue to stand with President Biden to grow the middle class and build our economy from the middle out and the bottom up.
