LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON HISTORIC ANNOUNCEMENTS BY THE GOVERNMENTS OF JAPAN AND THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement. 

“House Democrats, under the leadership of President Biden, are committed to a vision of a free, open and secure Indo-Pacific region.
 
Japan and South Korea are two of our closest partners in this effort. The recent announcement of a diplomatic resolution of the wartime labor dispute is a positive development for the region and the free world. 
 
Thanks to the respective commitment of Japan and South Korea to diplomacy and partnership, the strain of the 20th century conflict will become progress in the 21st century. 
 
I am grateful to Prime Minister Kishida and President Yoon for their leadership. House Democrats will continue to stand with both nations in our shared pursuit of peace and prosperity for the region.”
