WASHINGTON, DC – Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement on the result of Virginia’s 4th Congressional District special election: 

Congratulations to Congresswoman-elect Jennifer McClellan on her decisive victory in this special election and on making history as the first Black woman to represent Virginia in Congress. A dedicated public servant and an experienced legislator, I know she will be a powerful advocate for Virginia families and work hard to build on the tremendous legacy of the late Congressman Don McEachin. Congresswoman-elect McClellan will be a valued voice in our Caucus and I look forward to working with her as we continue our mission to put People Over Politics.
