LEADER JEFFRIES ANNOUNCES ADDITIONAL APPOINTMENTS TO SELECT SUBCOMMITTEE ON THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced he is appointing Reps. Ami Bera and Jill Tokuda to serve on the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic.

I am pleased to announce that Reps. Ami Bera and Jill Tokuda will join the strong lineup of Members representing our Democratic values on the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic. As we confront the politicization of COVID-19 by extreme MAGA Republicans, we are fortunate that Dr. Bera will provide his professional background in public health. Throughout the pandemic, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders have reported the highest case rates among ethnic groups in many states. I know that Rep. Tokuda will help ensure we continue to shine a light on the pandemic’s disproportionate impact on her community and so many others across the country.

Under the leadership of Ranking Member Dr. Raul Ruiz, Reps. Debbie Dingell, Kweisi Mfume, Deborah Ross, Robert Garcia, Ami Bera and Jill Tokuda will work to ensure this committee stays focused on our continued recovery from this once-in-a-century pandemic. I am grateful to Assistant Democratic Leader Jim Clyburn for his leadership of the subcommittee in the 117th Congress as House Democrats fought to ensure an equitable, efficient and effective response to the public health crisis.
