Incoming Leader Jeffries Announces Parliamentarian of Steering & Policy Committee

Washington, D.C. – Incoming Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries announced today that he is nominating Congressman David Cicilline of Rhode Island to serve as the Parliamentarian of the Steering and Policy Committee.

“Congressman Cicilline is a trusted voice and thoughtful legislator with years of experience serving on the Steering and Policy Committee. As a Member of both the Foreign Affairs and Judiciary Committees, he has done tremendous work to defend our values both at home and abroad. As Co-Chair of the Equality Caucus, Rep. Cicilline has led the charge to promote freedom and equal protection under the law for the LGBTQ community. I had the honor of working closely with David when we served together as Co-Chairs of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee as part of the effort to take back the House in 2018. We are fortunate that Congressman Cicilline will continue to lend his experience, passion, insight and expertise to House Democratic Leadership.”

The Parliamentarian selection is expected to be ratified by the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee in the coming days. As Parliamentarian, Congressman Cicilline will serve as a Member of the House Democratic Leadership.
