LEADER JEFFRIES STATEMENT ON HOUSE CLERK CHERYL JOHNSON

Brooklyn, NY — Today, Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries released the following statement.

For the past four years, Cheryl Johnson embodied grace, poise and selflessness as she guided the House of Representatives. She served House Speakers from both sides of the aisle with professionalism and defended our democracy with distinction during tumultuous times. The role of Clerk is an unheralded one but it ensures the healthy functioning of the People’s House and the institution we so deeply cherish. 

A historic figure in her own right, Cheryl Johnson will be deeply missed. I wish her the best in all her future endeavors and thank her for her service to the country.
